Here Comes The Sun: Clay Robinson of Sun King Brewery

Here Comes The Sun: Clay Robinson of Sun King Brewery

INDIANAPOLIS, IN

The history of craft beer in Indiana has been turbulent to say the least. And less than 10 years ago, the state's largest city was nearly void of options. Then, the first brewery since the 40's entered the capital. Clay Robinson is, in part, responsible for the growth of craft beer in the Hoosier state and credits company culture to the success of Indy's Sun King.

Talking Beer with Pat Berger

CHICAGO, IL

On the list of Chicago craft beer bars where you might find The Hop Review perched at the bar, Lakeview's Paddy Long's and the West Loop's Kaiser Tiger are damn near the top. Both establishments offer a completely different atmosphere with the former being your classic neighborhood Irish joint; the latter oozing a sophisticated beer garden feel. Both places have something in common – a whole lotta bacon and a fantastic beer list chock full of quality, often hard to come by brews. They also happen to be co-owned and lovingly curated by Pat Berger: respected beer judge, bar owner, blogger, and Chicagoan through and through.

Brewer Chat: Claudia Jendron of Temperance Beer Company

Brewer Chat: Claudia Jendron of Temperance Beer Company

EVANSTON, IL

It's no stretch to say the people behind Temperance Beer Company are pioneers. For one, the brewery is the first to open in the city of Evanston since the Prohibition era; not a simple feat in a community that was dry until 1972. And behind any brewery, there must always be a Brewmaster. Claudia Jendron is carving out her own path in a largely male dominated industry and is leaving quite the foot print. Her English Style IPA Gatecrasher has just won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival, a huge (and as we found out, unexpected) honor.
